How to Install Windows XP using USB flash drive?
Some of you are confused on how to install Windows XP on a computer without CD-ROM. Well your problem is solved just read this guide carefully and follow steps by steps. This guide is courtesy of the author(s) and credits will be for them and I am thankful that I found this guide and it really help me a lot! it did my work easier.

Note: This tutorial is not only working in Asus EEE Pc this works also in other Computers, Laptops and Notebooks!
First you need to download this file, it’s the fixed ones and works on me.
Note: when you are at the download page select “Download for free with Filefactory Basic”.
Here’s how:
1. Insert your USB flash drive to your computer.
2. Extract the Bootsect & usb_prep8.
3. In usb_prep8 folder double click the usb_prep8.cmd and press any key to continue.
4. PeToUSB will be open automatically. Don’t change anything in PeToUSB window.
5. Click Start. It will automatically format your usb flash disk, takes only a few seconds.
6. After formatting do not close usb_prep8 and PeToUSB windows.
7. Open a cmd prompt ( Start> Run and type cmd or command)
8. Locate where you extract the bootsect folder.
9. When you are there type bootsect.exe /nt52 G: and press enter (G: is only a sample better know what is the letter of your USB Drive) .
10. After that you see “Bootcode was successfully updated on all targeted volumes.”
11. Close cmd prompt and close the PeToUSB. (still do not close the usb_prep8.cmd)
12. In usb_prep8.cmd you will see this:
13. Now put the correct info in numbers 1-3.
- Press 1, enter, browse and locate the CD drive where you inserted your windows installer.
- Press 2, enter, now assign a letter to create your virtual drive e.g. T: (any letters that are not already in use in your drives.)
- Press 3, enter, now put the drive letter of your USB flash drive. (look into your My Computer to identify what drive letter assigned to your USB flash drive.)
- Once your done assigning press 4 then enter
- Press Y to continue.
- Once done press enter to continue, it will copy now your windows installer to your temporary drive.
- Once done, you will see a pop up box asking if you want to copy the files to your USB drive. Click “Yes”. It will take around 15-30 mins copying.
- Once it is completely done copying, a pop up box will appear asking if you would like the USB drive to be preferred boot drive U: select YES.
14. Now your done making your USB Windows Installer.
